PIIS, the Mie Pharmaceutical Industry Information System (English site) is managed by the Mie Prefectural Government, as part of a public project to establish the Mie Pharmaceutical Industry Association Network.
As Mie is situated in central Japan, there is convenient access to a large market. Such a favored location inspired the creation of the Medical Valley Project, whereby development of an integrated network of Medical, Health and Welfare Industries has begun. For this reason, industries manufacturing products related to Human Health such as drugs, quasi-drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, health foods and care devices are being invited to expand into Mie Prefecture.
Japan has the longest life expectancy in the world, leading to what is currently an extremely rapidly aging society. As Japanese people on the whole are deeply concerned about their health, it is predicted that in the future Japan will stand at the forefront of health care industries. Due to these advantageous circumstances, Mie Prefecture is making efforts to attract health care enterprises from all over the world.
Further, the Japanese PIIS site is not merely a translation of the English site, but provides more detailed and current information relating to pharmaceutical companies operating in Japan.
This homepage also contains information related to Japans Pharmaceutical Affairs Laws and Regulations, whilst not only detailing the promotion of investment and industrial development within Mie but also the Japanese market potential for health products manufacturers. For these reasons, please refer to both the Japanese and English sites regarding your business development within Mie.
